Imagination generates product in my work. Spending my childhood with cartoons and comics, major culture industries in Asia, I found it still serves as my own platform to observe the real world. Throughout intellectual studio practice and material study in graduate school, unconventional positioning of materials and concepts marks the beginning point of my work.
My sarcastic approach can be attributed to a parody of reality. I am striving to perceive hidden irony of our everyday lives, combined with contemporary approaches. In the series of Black Bunnies (2009), plastic materials and repulsive imagery of bunny were merged using the idea of bling: exaggerated shapes, costume-jewelry qualities, and surreal creatures. The bitter reflection projects the scene of abundant paradox in the reality.
